Nutrition is the name of the
science which is concerned with food and its
importance to life and health. Food does much
more than just satisfy hunger. It also provides
the many substances the body needs for growth
and for good heath. Enough of the right foods
helps every one to be strong, healthy, vital and
alert.
FOOD provides body "fuel" to give us warmth and
energy
FOOD provides substances that helps to regulate
the body processes and to use other materials
from food.
FOOD provides the "bricks" to build the body,
the materials to repair and the substances to
provide general upkeep of the body.
Children need good nutrition to grow on as well
as to keep them strong and healthy. Adults need
good nutrition to repair and maintain their
bodies and to protect against ill health.
Different ages, different activities, personal
likes, special needs for sound physical
conditions - these are the main factors that
influence food needs for sound nutrition. |
